Program Overview

A-KEEP’s Community KSL (Korean as a Second Language) Class is the perfect course for non-Korean and beginner Korean speakers to build a solid foundation in the Korean language and continue their learning journey after class is completed. Our course is led by native-Korean Teaching Assistants and advanced Korean learners to help ensure that you receive an authentic education.

A-KEEP’s Community KSL class is designed to focus on building fundamental skills to help you:

  • Build basic skills to communicate in Korean

  • Learn from Native-Korean speakers and cultural diversity educators

  • Choose between an introductory or Korean I class

  • Open to all community members, ages 13+

The class will introduce teens and adults to the Korean language and culture twice a week for 10 weeks including an orientation and graduation ceremony.

Session Time: 10 weeks; 2 days a week

Fee: $200 for the full 10 weeks: when paying by credit card please add $5 for processing fee.

Eligibility: Teens and adults

Students are required to attend both days for classes. Tuesdays & Thursdays you choose to meet in person or online.

  • The Community KSL Course is $200 per student. This price includes a $20 non-refundable administration fee, a portion of the cost of class materials, online tutoring and materials, an exciting Korean immersion activity, and graduation materials.

    Full payment is due before Feb 22nd. Other payment arrangements can be made upon request. Failure to pay on scheduled time may result in dismissal from class.

  • Class payments can be refunded after formally withdrawing from the course via written notice at $10 per the remaining weeks; after 4 weeks of classes, you can no longer receive a refund for withdrawal.

    The $20 administrative/overhead fee included in the class costs is non-refundable. Please contact accountingadmin@akeep.org for refund instructions.

    Refunds may take up to 4-6 weeks to be processed. Some refunds may be subject to a service and administration fee which are non-refundable.

  • A-KEEP’s Community KSL has two language/class levels: Introductory and Korean I.

    The Introductory Level Class has no requirements for entry. This class is best suited for those with no to very little knowledge or skills speaking Korean.

    To apply for the Korean I Class, please read and make sure you meet each of the Korean I Level Class Requirements:

    -Have a firm grasp on the Korean alphabet

    -Be able to read Korean out loud (we are not asking for perfect pronunciation, but the ability to sound out a sentence as written)

    -Familiar with Korean number systems (Sino and native/pure numbers)

    -Familiar with basic introductions in Korean.

    *Class levels are dependent on enrollment numbers.
